Nassa, Bahamas, is the government seat of New Providence Island and is home to nearly half of the nation’s population. There are numerous casinos, luxury resorts, golf courses, and premier shopping centers to be found in the area. While all of this attracts a good bit of visitors, it is scuba diving that is responsible for drawing in the true adventurers.

English is the main language of the islands. Education is compulsory between the ages of 5 and 15. Religious groups include Anglicans, Baptists, Methodists and Roman Catholics. Real Estate and Finance are important sectors of the economy. There is very little industry apart from an oil refinery at Freeport and a rum distillery on New Providence. Fishing is one of the major mainstays of the Negro population. Vegetables and fruit are grown however the arable land is limited and a small amount of livestock is also farmed. Trading commodities include cucumbers, tomatoes, shellfish, pulpwood and cement and the main trading partners are the USA, the UK and Canada.

The idea of investing in real estate amidst the current economic conditions might make even the most seasoned investor squirm, but Bahamas islands real estate continues to be a good investment opportunity.
